PLEASE VISIT SOON FOR FURTHER INFORMATION! Now in it's eighth year the First Look Student Film Festival focuses on finding the next generation of great filmmakers and presenting their work to a larger audience. We strive to provide a place where up-and-coming filmmakers can present quality films in a professional setting and be taken seriously as filmmakers and artists. This year, we are proud to announce that the festival will become a "festival within a festival" during the 2008 Starz Denver Film Festival, which will be entering its 31st year in November, '08 . The festival was started (and is still run!) by two college students who attended film school at the University of Colorado. In eight years, "First Look Fest" has grown from a one night, local, student film festival into an integral addition to the much larger Starz Denver Film Festival, which will be entering its 31st year in November and is attended by more than 45,000 people. By emphasizing quality storytelling and entertainment value in our selections over big names and big budgets we have gained a reputation as a great experience for filmmakers and festival goers alike. Held at the Starz FilmCenter, on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver, the films screened at the festival will be shwon during the critically acclaimed Starz Denver Film Festival and is on a college campus that fully supports student films and student filmmakers. We highly encourage our filmmakers to attend the event as it is great place to see what is going on in other educational programs outside of your school. Receptions are held each night of the festival as a way to facilitate networking and meeting new people in your field of interest. Filmmaking attracts an eclectic group of people from a diverse array of backgrounds and we love to get everyone together and see what happens! We only accept short films - 30 minutes or less. We also limit our submissions to films created by a student. You don't have to be a film student, (nor do you have to be young) but we do ask that you only submit films which were primarily completed during a course of study. Special note: For our third year running we will be holding our very popular Late Night Zombie Madness Screening! We noticed many years ago that film students have a particularly advanced sense of the horror genre and to accommodate that fact we have begun screening the dark, morbid, gross and weird in one awesome late night show. So don't be shy - be sure to include us in your festival list if you have zombie madness! We look forward to your entry! - Josh and Wade - |
